Russian cuisine is a collection of different cooking traditions. The cuisine is diverse, with Northern and Eastern European, Caucasian, Central Asian, Siberian, and East Asian influences. It derives its varied character from the vast and multi-ethnic expanse of Russia. The foundations were laid by the peasant food of the rural population in an often harsh climate, with a combination of plentiful fish, pork, poultry, caviar, mushrooms, berries, and honey. Crops of rye, wheat, barley and millet provided the ingredients for a plethora of breads, pancakes, pies, cereals, beer and vodka.

Deepen into an everyday life of muscovites! Our tour starts with visiting a local flat with a young & friendly local couple, Nadya and Alexei. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn Russian culture from the “inside”. You will visit a local apartment and have delicious dinner with them. Learn what is “O’croshka”, get to know the history of russian national dishes, discover important aspects of cooking and finally get unique recipes!

Also, famous borsh & pelmeni (Russian dumplings) will be a must-try point of our little gastronomic journey. Our local experts will tell you interesting facts about an everyday life of local russians so that you can get authentic travel impressions from a completely different perspective.
